Basim meaning
Basim (باسم) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
Smiling
Basim (باسم) is the Arabic active participle of basama, "to smile". Lane's lexicon gives bāsim simply as smiling, and explains that the verb means something gentler than laughing. Related words in the same entry include bassām, "one who smiles a great deal", and mabsim, the front teeth or mouth, as the place where a smile shows. Name lists give "smiling", which matches the dictionary exactly. The name is spelled Basem or Bassem in much of the Arab world, and Basim or Baasim in India and Pakistan.
