Amir meaning
Amir (امیر) is a Muslim and international boy's name of Arabic origin.
A commander, governor, lord, prince or king
Also used to mean: leader
Amir (امیر) is the Arabic amīr, from the root ʾ-m-r, "to command". Lane's lexicon defines it as one who holds command: a commander, governor, lord, prince or king. The title amīr al-muʾminīn, "commander of the faithful", was used by the caliphs, and the word passed into English as "emir". In Urdu, amīr also means "rich". Amir is a different name from Aamir, which comes from ʿāmir, "prosperous, flourishing", though the two are often confused in English. The poet and musician Amir Khusrau made the name famous in India.
