Sikandar meaning
Sikandar (سکندر) is a Muslim boy's name of Persian origin (from Greek).
Alexander; the Persian name of Alexander the Great
Also used to mean: conqueror, defender of mankind
Sikandar (سکندر) is the Persian and Urdu form of Alexander. Steingass enters sikandar simply as Alexander, adding that Persian tradition knew two celebrated princes of the name, both called Dhu'l-Qarnayn, "the two-horned", and listing phrases such as sadd-i sikandar, "Alexander's rampart". Name lists translate it as "conqueror", after Alexander the Great, or "defender of men", the meaning usually given for the Greek name Alexandros. In India it recalls Sikandar Lodi, the Lodi sultan of Delhi from 1489 to 1517, who made Agra his seat of power.
