Iqtidar meaning
Iqtidar (اقتدار) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin (Urdu usage).
Power, ability, authority (verbal noun of iqtadara, 'to be able')
Iqtidar (اقتدار) is Arabic iqtidār, from iqtadara, in the root q-d-r, which joins the ideas of measure, decree and power. Lane's lexicon gives iqtadara as being able to do something, having the power for it, and prevailing; the same root gives qadr, destiny, and the divine name al-Qādir, the Powerful. In Urdu iqtidār is the ordinary word for power or authority, often political power. Name lists give "power" or "authority", which matches. Iqtidar is a name used by Muslim men in north India, as with the historian Iqtidar Alam Khan.
