Asad meaning
Asad (اسد) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
The lion; also the sign Leo
Asad (اسد) is the Arabic asad, the ordinary word for the lion. Lane's lexicon defines it as the well-known beast of prey, notes that Arabic has many names for it, and adds that al-Asad is also the zodiac sign Leo and the star Regulus. The name was a title of honour for the Prophet's uncle Ḥamza and for ʿAlī, both called Asad Allāh, "Lion of God". Mirza Ghalib wrote his early verse under the pen name Asad. It should not be confused with Asʿad (اسعد), "happier", which is spelt the same way in English.
