Taimur meaning
Taimur (تیمور) is a Muslim boy's name of Turkic origin (via Persian).
Iron; also the name of the conqueror Timur
Also used to mean: strong
Taimur (تیمور) comes from the Turkic word temür, "iron", which passed into Persian as tīmūr. Steingass gives tīmūr as iron and as a proper name, and records tīmūr-i lang, "Timur the Lame", the conqueror known in Europe as Tamerlane, who founded the Timurid empire in the fourteenth century; the Mughal emperors of India descended from him through Babur. Name lists agree on "iron", and the name is valued for its sense of strength.
