Faris meaning
Faris (فارس) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
A horseman, rider; one skilled in horsemanship; also the lion
Also used to mean: knight
Faris (فارس) is Arabic fāris, from the root f-r-s, which also gives faras, "horse". Lane's lexicon defines it as the owner of a horse and a horseman or rider, then as a man skilled in horsemanship, and by extension a man skilled in anything he sets out to do. In another sense al-fāris is the lion, which breaks the neck of its prey. Name lists give "knight" or "horseman", which matches the main sense, since a skilled horseman was the Arab ideal of the warrior. The name is also spelled Fares and Faaris.
