Ghazi meaning
Ghazi (غازی) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin (Urdu and Persian usage).
One who goes out to fight the enemy; a warrior on campaign
Also used to mean: fighter
Ghazi (غازی) is Arabic ghāzī, from the verb ghazā. Lane's lexicon defines the verb as setting out to fight or raid an enemy in his own territory, and ghāzī as the person who does so; ghazw is the campaign itself. The Quran uses the plural ghuzzā for men who went out on campaign (3:156). In the Turkish, Persian and Indian Muslim worlds Ghazi became a title of honour for a soldier of the faith and was carried by many rulers. As a given name it is understood today simply as "warrior".
