Rustam meaning
Rustam (رستم) is a Muslim boy's name of Persian origin.
Rustam, son of Zal, greatest hero of Persian legend; figuratively, a hero
Also used to mean: strong, brave
Rustam (رستم) is the name of the greatest hero of Persian legend, the son of Zāl and father of Sohrab, whose deeds fill much of Ferdowsi's Shahnameh, the Persian "Book of Kings". Steingass calls him the most renowned hero among the Persians, and Platts records that in Urdu rustam came to mean any hero or brave man. Name lists give Rustam as "hero", "strong" or "brave", which follows that figurative use; the older origin of the name itself is debated. It is used by Muslim families and, as Rustom, is also a Parsi name in India.
