Zuhair meaning
Zuhair (زہیر) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
Little flower: diminutive of zahr, 'flowers, blossoms'
Also used to mean: bright
Zuhair (زہیر) is the Arabic Zuhayr, the diminutive of zahr, "flowers, blossoms". Lane gives zahr as the flowers of a plant, noting one authority's view that the word properly means a yellow flower, and the root z-h-r also means to shine or be bright, which is why the related name Azhar means "shining". Lane does not explain the name itself, but the diminutive form is regular, so "little flower" is a fair reading; name lists give both "little flower" and "bright". The name was borne by Zuhayr ibn Abī Sulmā, one of the great poets of pre-Islamic Arabia, whose verses Lane quotes again and again.
