Qutubuddin meaning
Qutubuddin (قطب الدین) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
Pole or axis of the faith (quṭb + al-dīn)
Also used to mean: leader of the faith
Qutubuddin (قطب الدین) joins Arabic quṭb with al-dīn, "of the faith". Lane's lexicon gives quṭb first as the iron pivot on which a millstone turns, then as the pole-star, and figuratively as the chief of a people, the one on whom their affairs turn; Sufis use it for the spiritual pole of the saints of an age. The name thus means "axis of the faith". In Delhi it recalls Qutb-ud-din Aibak, founder of the Delhi Sultanate, who began the Qutub Minar, and the Sufi saint Qutbuddin Bakhtiar Kaki, whose shrine stands at Mehrauli nearby.
