Afsar meaning
Afsar (افسر) is a Muslim boy's name of Persian origin.
A crown or diadem
Also used to mean: officer
Afsar (افسر) is a Persian word for a crown or diadem, as Steingass's dictionary records; it can also mean a bridle or halter. In Hindustani the same spelling took on a second, everyday sense: Platts lists afsar as an officer or official, and explains it as an adaptation of the English word "officer". Name lists today give both meanings, "crown" and "officer". The name is used by Muslim families in India and Bangladesh, in Urdu, Bengali and other languages.
