Nizamuddin meaning
Nizamuddin (نظام الدین) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
Order of the faith (niẓām + al-dīn)
Also used to mean: discipline of religion
Nizamuddin (نظام الدین) joins niẓām, "order, arrangement", with al-dīn, "of the faith". Lane's lexicon gives niẓām as the standard or support by which a thing is kept in order, and dīn as obedience and religion. The name therefore means "order of the faith", and lists today give it as "order" or "discipline of religion". It is closely tied to Delhi through Nizamuddin Auliya (died 1325), the Chishti Sufi whose shrine gives its name to the Nizamuddin neighbourhood and railway station. His disciples included the poet Amir Khusrau and Nasiruddin Chiragh-e-Dehli.
