Anees meaning
Anees (انیس) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
A companion or friend whose company brings ease
Also used to mean: friendly
Anees (انیس) is the Arabic anīs, from the same root as Anas. Lane's lexicon defines it as a person or thing whose company makes one cheerful and at ease: a companion, a familiar friend. Name lists give it as "friendly" or "companion", with the sense of someone whose presence brings comfort. In Urdu literature the name belongs above all to Mir Babar Ali Anis, the nineteenth-century Lucknow poet who wrote as "Anis" and brought the marsiya, the elegy for the martyrs of Karbala, to its height.
