Dilshad meaning
Dilshad (دلشاد) is a Muslim unisex name of Persian origin, used for both girls and boys.
Happy, contented, glad; gladness
Also used to mean: cheerful
Dilshad is the Persian compound dil-shād, literally 'glad of heart', from dil, 'heart', and shād, 'glad, joyful'. Steingass defines it as happy, contented and glad, and as a noun, gladness; he also lists the less common senses of a gift and of resolution. Baby-name lists give 'happy' or 'cheerful', which is the dictionary sense. In India and Pakistan Dilshad is given to both boys and girls. Shād on its own means glad or joyful, and is the root of shādī, 'joy', the Urdu and Hindi word for a wedding.
