Afrah meaning
Afrah (افراح) is a Muslim girl's name of Arabic origin.
Joys; gladness, happiness (plural of faraḥ)
Also used to mean: delight
Afrah (افراح) is Arabic afrāḥ, the plural of faraḥ, "joy", from the root f-r-ḥ. Lane's lexicon defines faraḥ as joy, mirth or gladness, the opposite of sorrow, and adds that in his day the word was also used for a festivity, especially a wedding; in modern Arabic afrāḥ still means wedding celebrations. Name lists give Afrah as "happiness" or "joy", which matches the dictionary. It is a different name from Afra, which means "white" or "fair".
