Khadija meaning
Khadija (خدیجہ) is a Muslim and international girl's name of Arabic origin.
Born prematurely, before the full term
Khadija (خدیجہ) comes from the Arabic root kh-d-j. Lane's Lexicon defines khadīj as a young one, especially a camel's young, born before its days of gestation are complete; Khadīja is the feminine form. Name lists today give the same sense, "premature child" or "early baby". The name is honoured as that of Khadīja bint Khuwaylid (d. 619), a Meccan merchant of the Quraysh who employed the young Muhammad to manage her caravans and later proposed marriage to him. She supported him through the first revelations and is often considered the first person to believe in his message; he took no other wife while she lived. Glosses such as "trustworthy" describe her character rather than the word.
