Aqsa meaning
Aqsa (اقصیٰ) is a Muslim and international girl's name of Arabic origin.
Farthest, most distant; as in al-Masjid al-Aqṣā
Also used to mean: the Al-Aqsa mosque
Aqsa (اقصیٰ) is Arabic aqṣā, "farthest, most distant", from the root q-ṣ-w. The name honours al-Masjid al-Aqṣā in Jerusalem, "the Farthest Mosque", which the Quran names in the opening verse of Sura al-Isrāʾ (17:1) as the place to which the Prophet was carried on the Night Journey. For Muslims it is the third holiest mosque, and the name carries that devotion rather than the plain sense of distance. It is used as a girl's name in India and Pakistan, though some scholars point out that the word is grammatically masculine in Arabic.
