Arisha meaning
Arisha (عریشہ) is a Muslim girl's name of Arabic origin.
A trellis or arbour for vines; a shady booth
Also used to mean: canopy, throne, palanquin
Arisha (عریشہ), also spelled Areesha, comes from Arabic ʿarīsh, from the root ʿ-r-sh. Lane's lexicon defines ʿarīsh as a roof of sticks or wood built for a vine to climb over, an arbour, and connects it with ʿarsh, a booth for shade and also a king's throne. Name lists in India give Arisha as "canopy", "palanquin" or "throne". The first two fit the dictionary word; "throne" comes from the related ʿarsh. A few sites give "bright" or "lioness", which we could not find in any dictionary. The name is used by Muslim families in India and Pakistan.
