Ajwa meaning
Ajwa (عجوہ) is a Muslim girl's name of Arabic origin.
A choice variety of dates grown in Medina
Also used to mean: ajwa date of Medina
Ajwa (عجوہ) is named after the ʿajwa, a dark, soft date grown in Medina. Lane's lexicon describes ʿajwa as a kind of Medina date, the best of its kind, which tradition says came from palms planted by the Prophet Muhammad; in the Hijaz the word was also used for dates pressed into a block. Ajwa dates are prized by Muslims everywhere and are often brought back from Hajj and Umrah as gifts. As a girl's name Ajwa is fairly new in India, chosen for those warm associations rather than for any abstract meaning.
