Qudsia meaning
Qudsia (قدسیہ) is a Muslim girl's name of Arabic origin.
Holy; (from quds) holiness, sanctity, purity
Also used to mean: sacred, pure
Qudsia (قدسیہ) is the feminine of Arabic qudsī, "holy", from quds and the root q-d-s. Lane's lexicon defines quds as holiness, sanctity and purity, and explains rūḥ al-qudus, "the Spirit of Holiness", which Muslims understand as the angel Gabriel; Steingass gives qudsīya simply as "holy". The same root gives al-Quds, the Arabic name of Jerusalem. Name lists give Qudsia as "holy" or "sacred". Two notable Indian bearers were Qudsia Begum, the Mughal queen mother who was regent for her son Ahmad Shah Bahadur, and Qudsia Begum, who ruled Bhopal from 1819 to 1837.
