Rabia meaning
Rabia (رابعہ) is a Muslim girl's name of Arabic origin.
Fourth (feminine)
Also used to mean: spring, garden
Rabia (رابعہ) is Arabic rābiʿa, the feminine of rābiʿ, "fourth" or "one of four", from the root r-b-ʿ. The masculine appears in Quran 18:22, where some guess that the sleepers of the cave were three, "the fourth of them their dog". Name lists today often give "spring" or "garden". Those senses belong to rabīʿ, "spring", a different word from the same root, so they are popular meanings rather than the sense of rābiʿa. The name was made famous by Rābiʿa al-ʿAdawiyya of Basra (d. 801), the Sufi mystic who taught that God should be loved for His own sake. Muslim families in India and Pakistan also spell the name Rabiya or Rabiah.
