Zeenat meaning
Zeenat (زینت) is a Muslim girl's name of Arabic origin.
An ornament, adornment or embellishment; anything that beautifies
Also used to mean: beauty
Zeenat is the Urdu form of Arabic zīna, 'adornment', from the root z-y-n, 'to adorn'. Lane's lexicon defines zīna as anything by which a person or thing is adorned: an ornament, decoration, embellishment or grace. Lane quotes Er-Rāghib's view that true adornment can be of the mind, such as knowledge, of the body, such as good looks, or of outward things, such as wealth and standing. The Quran uses the word in a well-known verse: 'wealth and children are the adornment of the life of this world' (18:46). Famous bearers include Zeenat Mahal, wife of the last Mughal emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar, and the film star Zeenat Aman.
