Aria meaning
Aria is an international girl's name of Italian origin.
An air or song, a melody (Italian, from Latin aer, 'air')
Aria is the Italian word for air, from Latin aër, and in music it means a melody or tune. Webster's 1913 dictionary notes that it came to mean especially an elaborate solo song in an opera, oratorio or cantata, like the famous arias of Verdi and Puccini. As a girl's name it is chosen for that musical sense. Indian families will notice that it sounds almost the same as the Sanskrit name Arya or Aarya, "noble", which is a separate word with its own meaning; the spelling Aria points to the musical name, while Aarya points to the Sanskrit one.
