Rehan meaning
Rehan (ریحان) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
Any sweet-smelling plant; also God's bounty, the means of subsistence
Rehan (ریحان) is the Urdu form of the Arabic rayḥān, which Lane lists under the root r-w-ḥ, the root of rīḥ, "wind", and rāʾiḥa, "scent". Lane gives rayḥān as any sweet-smelling plant, and in particular sweet basil; he also records the senses "offspring" and rizq, "God's bounty, the means of subsistence". The Quran mentions rayḥān twice: in 55:12, among the grain and fragrant plants God has provided on earth, and in 56:89, among the rewards of those brought near to God. Name lists today give Rehan as "fragrant" or "sweet basil", in line with the dictionary. Rehaan, Rayhan and Raihan are other spellings, and Rayhana is the related girls' name.
