Afnan meaning
Afnan (افنان) is a Muslim unisex name of Arabic origin, used for both girls and boys.
Branches of a tree (plural of fanan)
Also used to mean: growth
Afnan (افنان) is Arabic afnān, the plural of fanan, "a branch", from the root f-n-n. Lane's lexicon defines fanan as the branch of a tree and notes that the plural appears in the Quran (55:48), where the two gardens of Paradise are described as dhawātā afnān, "full of spreading branches". Some commentators instead took it as the plural of fann, "a kind", meaning gardens with every kind of fruit. Name lists give Afnan as "branches" and, more loosely, "growth". In India it is given to both girls and boys.
