Hanzala meaning
Hanzala (حنظلہ) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin (Urdu usage).
The colocynth, a bitter desert gourd (ḥanẓal; ḥanẓala, one gourd)
Hanzala (حنظلہ) is Arabic ḥanẓala, a single colocynth, from ḥanẓal. Lane's lexicon describes ḥanẓal as the colocynth, a hardy desert creeper with very bitter round fruit that the Arabs used as medicine. Like many old Arab names drawn from desert plants and animals, it was not chosen for its taste. Families today give it because it was the name of several Companions of the Prophet, among them Hanzala ibn Abi Amir, who died at Uhud and is remembered as "the one washed by the angels". Islamic scholars give the colocynth meaning; a few name sites say "shining one", without support.
