Aqib meaning
Aqib (عاقب) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
A successor, one who comes after; 'the last' (of the Prophet)
Also used to mean: follower
Aqib (عاقب) is the Arabic ʿāqib, from ʿaqaba, "to come after, to follow". Lane's lexicon defines it as one who comes after or succeeds another, and also a successor in goodness or a chief. It records al-ʿĀqib as one of the names of the Prophet Muhammad, meaning "the last", because he came after all the earlier prophets. Name lists give Aqib as "successor" or "follower". The same root gives ʿāqiba, "the end, the outcome", a frequent word in the Quran.
