Hansraj meaning
Hansraj (हंसराज) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
'king of geese', a large gander; a personal name
Also used to mean: king of swans
Hansraj (हंसराज) is Sanskrit haṃsa-rāja, "king of the haṃsas". Monier-Williams translates haṃsa as goose, gander or swan, the bird that carries Brahmā, and also as the soul or the universal spirit. Haṃsa-rāja itself is recorded as a large gander, from the Hitopadeśa, and as the name of a man and of several authors, so the name is old. Name lists give "king of swans", the usual Indian reading of haṃsa. It is a traditional name across North India.
