Naimish meaning
Naimish (नैमिष) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Momentary, transient; the sacred Naimisha forest
Also used to mean: instant
Naimish (नैमिष) is Sanskrit naimiṣa, the name of the sacred forest of Naimisha, or Naimisharanya, where, as Monier-Williams notes, the bard Sauti recited the Mahabharata to the assembled sages. The dictionary records the story that the forest was named because an army of Asuras was destroyed there in a nimiṣa, an instant, and also gives naimiṣa as an adjective meaning "momentary, transient". Name lists give "momentary" or "instant", which the dictionary supports. Naimisharanya, in present-day Uttar Pradesh, is still a place of pilgrimage.
