Shamim meaning
Shamim (شمیم) is a Muslim unisex name of Arabic origin (Urdu usage), used for both girls and boys.
A smell, perfume, scent; the act of smelling
Also used to mean: fragrance
Shamim (شمیم) is an Arabic word from shamma, "to smell", used in Persian and Urdu poetry for a sweet scent. Steingass's Persian dictionary defines shamīm as a smell, perfume or scent, and quotes phrases such as gul-i ʿambar-shamīm, "a rose with the scent of ambergris", and a breeze carrying the scent of jasmine. Lane's lexicon records the root's other meanings, to smell and to be lofty. Name lists give Shamim as "fragrance". In India it is used for girls and boys alike; Shamima is a feminine form.
