Shamit meaning
Shamit (शमित) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Appeased, allayed, pacified; relieved; prepared (as an offering)
Also used to mean: calm, peaceful
Shamit (शमित) is Sanskrit śamita, a past participle from the verb śam, "to be calm, to cease". Monier-Williams gives prepared, as an offering, then appeased, allayed or pacified, relieved or cured, and relaxed; in some contexts it also means put an end to or destroyed, since the verb covers both calming and ending. It is related to śānti, "peace". Name lists give Shamit as "calm" or "peaceful", a fair reading of the sense of something calmed. Some lists link it to Vishnu or Kartikeya, which the dictionary does not.
