Shafiq meaning
Shafiq (شفیق) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
Affectionate, kind, compassionate; anxious for another's good
Also used to mean: tender
Shafiq (شفیق) is the Arabic shafīq, from the root sh-f-q, whose verb ashfaqa means to fear for someone and so to be tender towards them. Lane's lexicon gives shafīq as cautious or fearful and also affectionate, kind and compassionate, and quotes a definition of it as one who gives sincere advice and strives to set right the affairs of the person advised. Name lists give "compassionate", "kind" and "tender". Ashfaq, from the same root, is a related given name.
