Shaunak meaning
Shaunak (शौनक) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Name of a celebrated Vedic teacher and grammarian
Also used to mean: wise, a great sage
Shaunak (शौनक) is Sanskrit śaunaka, a family name meaning a descendant of Śunaka. Monier-Williams records it as the name of several Vedic teachers, above all the celebrated scholar credited with the Ṛgveda Prātiśākhya and the Bṛhaddevatā, teacher of Āśvalāyana, who is sometimes identified with the seer Gṛtsamada. In the Mahābhārata, Śaunaka leads the gathering of seers in the Naimiṣa forest to whom the epic is recited. Name lists give Shaunak as "wise" or "a great sage".
