Gopendra meaning
Gopendra (गोपेन्द्र) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, गो, it is a Kumbh rashi name (Shatabhisha nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Chief herdsman, a name of Krishna
Also used to mean: lord of cowherds, Lord Krishna
Gopendra (गोपेन्द्र) joins Sanskrit gopa, "cowherd", and indra, "chief". Monier-Williams gives gopendra as "chief herdsman", a name of Kṛṣṇa found in the Mahabharata, and also as the name of a later author. It is close in sense to Gopesh, "lord of cowherds", which the dictionary treats as its equal. Name lists give Gopendra as "lord of cowherds" or Krishna, which matches. Gopendraraja, an 8th-century king of the Chahamana dynasty, carried a longer form of the name.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Krishna.
