Imdad meaning
Imdad (امداد) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin (Urdu usage).
Help, aid, reinforcement
Also used to mean: support
Imdad (امداد) is Arabic imdād, from amadda, in the root m-d-d, "to extend, to supply". Lane's lexicon explains amadda as helping a people, especially reinforcing an army with fighting men or with supplies, and madad as such help or reinforcement. In Urdu and Hindi imdād and madad are the ordinary words for help, and the Quran speaks of God reinforcing the believers with angels (3:124). Name lists give "help" or "support", which matches. The name is used alone and in Imdadullah, "help of God", as with the Sufi Haji Imdadullah Muhajir Makki.
