Nawaz meaning
Nawaz (نواز) is a Muslim boy's name of Persian origin.
One who caresses or soothes; also a player of music; comfort
Also used to mean: kind, generous, loving
Nawaz (نواز) is the Persian navāz, a word that often ends a compound. Steingass defines it as one who caresses or soothes, a player on a musical instrument, and comfort; related words include navāzish, "caresses, kindness, courtesy", and navāzī, "clemency, kindness". In Urdu it appears in titles such as Gharīb Navāz, "cherisher of the poor", by which the Sufi saint Muʿīn al-Dīn Chishtī of Ajmer is widely known. Name lists give Nawaz as "kind", "generous" or "loving", which fits the sense of cherishing; the gloss "prince" found on some sites has no support. Well-known bearers include Nawaz Sharif, a former prime minister of Pakistan.
