Shaurya meaning
Shaurya (शौर्य) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Heroism, valour, prowess, might
Shaurya (शौर्य) is the Sanskrit śaurya, "heroism, valour, prowess, might", a word Monier-Williams traces back to the Śatapatha Brāhmaṇa. It belongs with śūra, "hero, valiant man". MW also records śaurya as a name for ārabhaṭī, the heroic style of drama. In modern India the word is familiar from the Shaurya Chakra, a gallantry award for bravery otherwise than in the face of the enemy, open to soldiers, police and civilians alike; it was instituted in 1952 as the Ashoka Chakra Class III and renamed in 1967. Name lists give the same meaning, "bravery" or "valour". The name is given to boys in Hindu families.
