Abhimanyu meaning
Abhimanyu (अभिमन्यु) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, अ, it is a Mesh rashi name (Krittika nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Son of Arjuna and Subhadrā in the Mahābhārata
Also used to mean: heroic, self-respecting
Abhimanyu (अभिमन्यु) is best known as the son of Arjuna and Subhadrā in the Mahābhārata, the young warrior who broke into the Kaurava army's circular chakravyūha formation and was killed inside it. Monier-Williams records the word only as a proper name, for him, for a son of Manu Cākṣuṣa and for two kings of Kashmir. Its second part is manyu, which Monier-Williams gives as spirit, mettle, ardour and zeal, and also anger. Name lists give Abhimanyu as "heroic" or "self-respecting", senses that come from the epic hero and from manyu rather than from a separate dictionary meaning.
