Sayak meaning
Sayak (सायक) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin (Bengali usage). By its first sound, सा, it is a Kumbh rashi name (Shatabhisha nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
A missile, arrow; a sword
Sayak (सायक) is a Bengali boys' name from Sanskrit sāyaka, "a missile, arrow". Monier-Williams traces the word to the Rigveda, where it describes something made to be shot or hurled, and also lists it as a sword. Because Kāma, the god of love, carries five arrows, poets used sāyaka as a code word for the number five. Name lists give the meaning simply as "arrow", which matches the dictionary. Bengali pronunciation turns the opening s into sh, hence the spelling Shayak.
