Arindam meaning
Arindam (अरिंदम) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin (Bengali usage). By its first sound, अ, it is a Mesh rashi name (Krittika nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Subduing enemies, victorious; a name of Shiva
Also used to mean: destroyer of enemies, conqueror of enemies
Arindam (अरिंदम) is the Sanskrit ariṃdama, from ari, "enemy", and dama, "taming, subduing": one who tames his foes. Monier-Williams gives it as conquering enemies or victorious, cites the grammarian Pāṇini's commentators for its formation, and lists it as a name of Śiva, of the father of Sanaśruta in the Aitareya Brāhmaṇa, and of a sage in the Kathāsaritsāgara. Name lists give Arindam as "destroyer of enemies" or "conqueror of enemies", matching the dictionary. The name is used mainly in Bengal and Assam.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Shiva.
