Sourav meaning
Sourav (सौरव) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin (Bengali usage).
Fragrance, perfume
Sourav is how Bengalis usually write সৌরভ in English. It is the Sanskrit noun saurabha, which Monier-Williams defines as fragrance or perfume. The word comes from surabhi, "sweet-smelling", which is also the name of the wish-granting cow of Hindu myth, and as an adjective saurabha can mean simply fragrant. Hindi speakers write the same name as Saurabh, while Bengali, Assamese and Odia speakers write it Sourav or Saurav. The best-known bearer is Sourav Ganguly, the former captain of the Indian cricket team.
