Shyamal meaning
Shyamal (श्यामल) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin (Bengali usage).
Dark-coloured; black
Also used to mean: dusky, dark blue
Shyamal (श्यामल) comes from Sanskrit śyāmala, "dark-coloured", an extended form of śyāma, "dark, black, dark blue", the word behind Krishna's name Shyam. Monier-Williams also lists it as the colour black and as the name of a poet, while the feminine Śyāmalā is a name of the goddess Durgā. In Bengali the word also describes the deep green of paddy fields and groves, so the name carries a sense of lush countryside. Shyamal is a Bengali boys' name; the singer Shyamal Mitra is a well-known bearer.
