Sugata meaning
Sugata (सुगत) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin (Bengali usage).
Going well, faring well; a Buddha
Also used to mean: a name of the Buddha, fortunate
Sugata (सुगत) joins su-, "well", with gata, "gone". Monier-Williams gives it as going well or one who has fared well, and as a masculine noun, a Buddha. In Buddhist texts Sugata, "the one who has gone well", is one of the standard titles of Gautama Buddha. Name lists give "a name of the Buddha", in line with the dictionary. It is used mostly in Bengal, where it is pronounced SHU-go-to, and is carried by the historian Sugata Bose and the education researcher Sugata Mitra.
