Arghya meaning
Arghya (अर्घ्य) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin (Bengali usage). By its first sound, अ, it is a Mesh rashi name (Krittika nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Water offered in respectful welcome; valuable, worthy of honour
Also used to mean: offering of water, offering
Arghya (अर्घ्य) is the Sanskrit arghya, from argha, "worth" or "a respectful offering". Monier-Williams gives it as valuable or worthy of respectful reception, and as a noun the water offered to an honoured guest on arrival, as the household rites prescribe. In worship the same offering is made to the gods, and Hindus still offer arghya by pouring water towards the rising or setting sun, most visibly during Chhath. Name lists give Arghya as "offering of water" or simply "offering", matching the dictionary. The name is used mainly in Bengal.
