Abhra meaning
Abhra (अभ्र) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin (Bengali usage). By its first sound, अ, it is a Mesh rashi name (Krittika nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Cloud, thunder-cloud, rainy weather; the sky
Abhra (अभ्र) is an old Sanskrit word for a cloud, especially a rain cloud. Monier-Williams gives it as cloud, thunder-cloud and rainy weather, and also as the sky; the word is explained as "water-bearer" and is related to Greek and Latin words for rain. In medicine it also names mica, which is still called abhra in Bengali. As a short, modern-sounding boys' name it is used mainly in Bengal, where it is pronounced "Obhro". Name lists give the meaning simply as "cloud".
