Subhendu meaning
Subhendu (शुभेन्दु) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin (Bengali usage).
Compound of śubha, 'bright, auspicious', and indu, 'the moon'
Also used to mean: auspicious moon
Subhendu (शुभेन्दु) joins Sanskrit śubha, "bright, beautiful, auspicious", with indu, "the moon". Monier-Williams explains that indu first meant a drop of Soma and then the moon itself, and the word turns up in many Bengali names ending in -endu, such as Purnendu and Dibyendu. Subhendu therefore means "auspicious moon" or "bright moon", the sense name lists give. Bengali speakers often say it "Shubhendu", and Suvendu is another spelling. The actor Subhendu Chatterjee is a well-known bearer.
