Sibasis meaning
Sibasis (शिवाशीष) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin (Odia and Bengali usage).
Compound of Śiva, 'the auspicious one', and āśis, 'blessing'
Sibasis (शिवाशीष) is a name used mainly in Odisha and Bengal. It joins Śiva, whose name Monier-Williams explains as "the Auspicious one" and as an adjective meaning auspicious, gracious and kind, with āśis, "a blessing, benediction". The name therefore means "Shiva's blessing" or "auspicious blessing". Odia and Bengali say the Sanskrit ś and v as s or sh and b, which gives the spellings Sibasis, Sibashis and Shibashish. It belongs to the same family as Debasis, "blessing of the gods".
