Ritabrata meaning
Ritabrata (ऋतव्रत) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin (Bengali usage).
One whose vow is truth; truthful
Also used to mean: one devoted to truth, strong in righteousness
Ritabrata (ऋतव्रत) is the Bengali form of Sanskrit ṛta-vrata, joining ṛta, "truth, divine order", with vrata, "vow, religious observance". Monier-Williams gives it as "one whose vow is truth", that is, truthful, citing the Bhāgavata Purāṇa. In Bengali the Sanskrit v is pronounced b, which gives the spellings Ritabrata and Ritobrata. Name lists give "devoted to truth". Well-known bearers include the mathematician Ritabrata Munshi and the politician Ritabrata Banerjee.
