Kishalay meaning
Kishalay (किसलय) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin (Bengali usage).
A sprout or shoot; the tip of a branch bearing new leaves
Also used to mean: new leaf, tender shoot
Kishalay (किसलय) comes from Sanskrit kisalaya, which Monier-Williams gives as "a sprout or shoot, the extremity of a branch bearing new leaves". The Samsad Bengali dictionary describes kiśalaya as a green, tender young leaf or shoot, and the word was long familiar to Bengali children as the title of a school reader. Name lists give it as "new leaf", a fitting image for a new life. It is used mainly for boys in Bengal, where it is said "Kisholoy"; in Hindi-speaking regions the shorter Kislay is used.
